Sell a community subscription: Option 1, sell it as a product

Sell your paid community as a product and give members access automatically with a ready-made workflow. No manual approval needed.

Option 1 is the simplest way to sell a paid community. You set up your subscription as a product, people buy it through your shop, website or funnel, and an automation gives them access to your community as soon as they've paid. No approval emails, no manual invites.

💡 Before you start: your community subscription price needs to be set up in your community settings, and your payment processor (Stripe, PayPal, Square or similar) needs to be connected. Without these, there won't be anything to sell.

Step 1: Find your product

Once your subscription price is set up in your community settings, a product is created for you. Go to Payments and then Products and you'll see it listed there.

Step 2: Choose where you'll sell it

A. Through your online shop

If you just want to sell the subscription through your online shop, open the product and finish setting it up with your description, photo and any other details you'd like your customers to see.

B. On a website or funnel sales page

If you'd like to sell it from a website or funnel page, go to the page where your order form sits and add the subscription as a product on that order form.

The steps are in this guide: Attach your product to the order form.

Step 3: Automatically give access to your community

This is the part that gives your new member access to the community as soon as they've paid. Alvéya has a ready-made workflow template for it.

  1. Go to Automations and then Alvéya Workflow Templates.

  2. Open Membership Subscription, Community & Course Workflows.

  3. Find #7 - Automatic access to a community after subscribing [Template] and add it to your account.

Set up the trigger

The workflow starts with an Order Submitted trigger. If you're selling community access as a stand-alone subscription, filter this trigger by Global Product and choose your community product.

💡 Selling more than one community subscription? Click Add new trigger to add each additional product to the same workflow.

Choose the community group

Open the Grant group access action and choose the community group your members should be added to.

Check your welcome email is switched on

Go to your Courses / Memberships, then Settings, then Email notifications, and check that the welcome email is switched on.

💡 Optional: Alvéya sends an automatic system email to let your member know their access has been granted. If you'd like to send your own welcome email or a series of emails after they sign up, add them to the workflow after the Grant group access action.

⚠️ Once you've set the trigger and chosen your group, save and publish the workflow. If it isn't published, new members won't be given access automatically.

What your member experiences

  1. They buy the subscription from your shop, website or funnel.

  2. They receive their receipt by email.

  3. The workflow runs and adds them to your community straight away.

  4. They receive an email letting them know access has been granted.

💡 Test it yourself first.

Buy the subscription using a separate email address so you can see exactly what your members will see. If you have connected Stripe, google "Stripe test card numbers" and you can use this to test the user journey
