ThriveCart doesn't have a built-in integration with Alvéya — but that doesn't mean you have to handle it manually. This guide walks you through connecting ThriveCart to Alvéya using OttoKit, so that every purchase automatically creates a contact, applies a tag, and triggers the right workflow. You'll also learn how to handle subscription cancellations and refunds, so your access management stays accurate without any manual work.
Before you start: You'll need active accounts in ThriveCart, Alvéya, and OttoKit. Make sure your ThriveCart product is set up before starting this process.
What is OttoKit and why do you need it?
ThriveCart doesn't yet have a native connection to Alvéya, so we use a third-party automation tool to bridge the two. OttoKit acts as the connector — it watches for events in ThriveCart (like a purchase or cancellation) and tells Alvéya what to do in response.
💡 OttoKit is the recommended tool for this integration. It's more economical than alternatives and has a clean, intuitive interface that works well with Alvéya's setup. The free subscription will be enough.
Part 1: Setting Up Your ThriveCart Product
Before building your automation, make sure your ThriveCart product is ready to go. Under the Fulfilment section of your product settings, you don't need to connect a membership platform — instead, set the post-purchase action to display the customer's invoice or redirect them to a URL. The automation in OttoKit will handle the rest.
⚠️ Do not select a third-party membership platform under Fulfilment unless you're using that platform separately. The Alvéya integration is handled entirely through OttoKit.
Part 2: Building the OttoKit Workflow
Log into your OttoKit account (if you don't have one, sign up for the free version) and create a new workflow. Give it a clear name — something like ThriveCart Purchase to Alvéya — so it's easy to find later.
Step 1: Add a ThriveCart trigger
Click Add Trigger and search for ThriveCart.
Select Product Purchased as your trigger event. This works for both one-off purchases and subscriptions.
Under Select Connection, click Create New Connection if you haven't linked ThriveCart before.
Give your connection a name, then head to your ThriveCart account.
In ThriveCart, go to Settings > API and Webhooks > API Keys. Click Create API Key, give it a name, then copy the key that's generated.
Back in OttoKit, paste in your API key and click Connect ThriveCart.
Click the refresh button next to Select Connection to load your account, then select it.
Choose Test Mode if your product is still in testing, or Live if it's already published.
Select the specific product you want this workflow to trigger from.
Click Save. OttoKit will load sample data for you automatically — no test purchase needed.
💡 OttoKit provides sample data when you save the trigger, which saves a lot of time compared to other automation tools that require you to perform a live test purchase to capture data.
Step 2: Add an Alvéya action — Create Contact
Now we tell OttoKit what to do in Alvéya when a purchase happens.
Click Add Action and search for High Level Lead Connector (this is the Alvéya integration).
Select Create Contact as the event.
Under Select Connection, click Create New Connection.
In Alvéya, go to Settings > Private Integration and create a new integration. If you are only wanting a contact made, choose View Contacts and Edit Contacts for the scope of what this integration can do. Click Create then copy the code.
Back in OttoKit, paste in the API key, give the connection a name, and click Connect.
Click the refresh button next to Select Connection, then select your account.
Map the data from ThriveCart to the contact fields in Alvéya: First Name to Customer First Name, Last Name to Customer Last Name, Email to Customer Email, and City, State, Country, and Zip to the relevant address fields if you collect these on your checkout form.
Scroll down to the Tags field and type the tag you want applied to this customer — for example: All Access Pass. This tag will be used to trigger the onboarding workflow inside Alvéya.
Click Save, then scroll down and click Test Action. If the test runs successfully, head into your Alvéya account to confirm the test contact appeared with the correct tag and details.
⚠️ Alvéya requires at least one of the following to create a contact: email address or phone number. You don't need both, but one must be mapped.
💡 Using tags to trigger workflows gives you more flexibility than adding someone directly to a workflow from OttoKit. It also means you have a clean record in Alvéya of exactly what a customer has purchased.
Part 3: Building the Onboarding Workflow in Alvéya
Now that OttoKit is creating contacts and applying tags, you can use that tag as a trigger inside Alvéya to kick off an onboarding sequence.
In Alvéya, go to Automation > Workflows and create a new workflow from scratch.
Give it a clear name, such as ThriveCart Customer — All Access Onboarding.
Add a trigger: select Tag and then choose Tag Added. Set the tag to match exactly what you entered in OttoKit (e.g. All Access Pass).
Click Save Trigger.
Add your actions. Some options to consider: send a welcome email with login details or next steps, grant access to a course or membership area, add the contact to a community group, or add them to a sales pipeline opportunity.
Once your workflow is complete, click Publish and then Save.
💡 Build your full onboarding sequence here — confirmation email, access grant, follow-up sequence. This is where the real power of Alvéya comes in once ThriveCart handles the payment.
Part 4: Handling Cancellations and Refunds
If you're selling subscriptions, you'll also want to handle what happens when someone cancels or requests a refund. This requires a second OttoKit workflow and a corresponding Alvéya workflow to revoke access cleanly.
Step 1: Create the cancellation workflow in OttoKit
In OttoKit, create a new workflow — name it something like ThriveCart Cancelled Subscription.
Add a ThriveCart trigger and select Rebill Payment Cancelled (or the relevant event for your subscription type).
Select your account, mode, and product as before.
Click Save.
Add an Alvéya action and select Add Contact to Workflow.
Toggle on the Map option for the Contact field, then search for and select Customer Email. This ensures OttoKit finds the right person in Alvéya by matching their email address.
Click the refresh button next to Select Workflow — but don't select one yet. You'll build the Alvéya workflow first.
Step 2: Create the cancellation workflow in Alvéya
In Alvéya, go to Automation > Workflows and create a new workflow from scratch.
Name it clearly — for example: ThriveCart Cancelled Subscription — Revoke Access.
Do not add a trigger. This workflow will be triggered directly by OttoKit via the API.
Add your actions. Common steps include: remove the purchase tag (e.g. All Access Pass), revoke course or community access, send an offboarding or win-back email, or update the contact's pipeline opportunity to Lost.
Click Publish, then Save.
Step 3: Connect the workflows
Back in OttoKit, click the refresh button next to Select Workflow.
Select the cancellation workflow you just created in Alvéya.
Click Test Action to verify the connection.
Once the test passes, click Save to finalise the workflow.
⚠️ If you get an error saying the contact ID is invalid during testing, that's normal — it just means the test email doesn't match a real contact. Toggle off the Map option temporarily, select a known test contact, run the test, then toggle Map back on before saving.
What You've Built
You now have a fully automated connection between ThriveCart and Alvéya. When someone purchases, they are automatically added as a contact, tagged, and moved into your onboarding sequence. When someone cancels or refunds, their access is revoked and any follow-up steps happen automatically — without you needing to do a thing.
Your ThriveCart purchases are now flowing directly into Alvéya — your sales and your systems are working together.
If you get stuck at any point, reach out via live chat or submit a support request and we will guide you through.
