Authors and categories help organise your blog and give it a polished, professional feel. This guide shows you how to set both up so every post you publish feels complete.
Add yourself as an author
Your author profile appears on your posts, with a photo and a short bio. It helps readers connect the writing to you — which is exactly what builds trust with future clients.
You can create authors from your blog settings, then select the author on each post as you write.
Create your categories
Categories group your posts by topic — for example, Nutrition, Movement, Mindset. They make it easy for readers to find more of what interests them, and they can also be used to filter which posts appear in different sections of your blog.
Like authors, categories are created in your blog settings and then selected on each post.
⚠️ Categories are easiest to plan before you have lots of posts. Choose three to five broad topics you know you will write about regularly, rather than creating a new category for every post.
With your author profile and categories in place, every post you write now slots neatly into an organised, professional blog.
Next in the playbook: Add SEO details to your blog posts.
