Your Alvéya blog comes with a beautifully designed template, ready to go. This guide shows you how to make it unmistakably yours — your words, your imagery, and a layout that feels like an extension of your practice.
Before you start: You will need your blog created first. If you have not done that yet, follow Add a blog to your website, then come back here.
Step 1: Open the blog editor
Open your blog from the Blogs area.
Select Edit blog site in the top right corner.
The blog editor opens. It works just like the Alvéya website builder — click anything on the page to select it and edit it.
💡 You will see demo articles and placeholder images throughout the template. Don't worry about these — they are just there to show you the layout, and your real posts will take their place.
Step 2: Find your way around
The blog editor is similar to the website and funnel builder. If you need further information using the editor, check out the tutorials in the Website collection
A few landmarks worth knowing before you start editing:
Page selector — the dropdown at the top (showing Blog Home) lets you switch between the pages of your blog site, so you can style each one.
Desktop and mobile preview — the two small icons beside the page selector switch the view, so you can check your blog looks lovely on a phone as well as a computer.
Settings panel — when you click an element, its settings open on the right. The General tab controls content and layout; the Styles tab controls the finer visual details.
Undo and redo — the arrows in the top right are your safety net. Nothing you try is permanent.
Preview link — the link at the very top opens a preview of your blog exactly as visitors will see it.
Step 3: Make the words yours
The template's headings and taglines are placeholders waiting for your voice. Click directly on any text to edit it.
A few spots worth personalising straight away:
The welcome heading on your blog home page — swap it for something that sounds like you.
The short supporting lines nearby — use these to tell visitors what your blog will give them.
Any section headings, like the featured articles title.
💡 Keep the wording consistent with your website. If your site says "the journal", your navigation and emails should too — small consistencies build a polished, trustworthy feel.
Step 4: Swap in your own imagery
Images do most of the heavy lifting in how your blog feels. To change one:
Click the section or element containing the image you want to change. Its settings panel opens on the right.
Open the Background settings and make sure Image is selected (you can also choose a solid Colour or a Video).
Replace the image using the image field — upload your own photo or choose one from your media library.
Fine-tune how it sits using Image Options (Full Center works well for most hero images), and adjust the Background Image Opacity or Background Blur if you would like text over the image to stand out more.
💡 Soft, natural photography in your brand's tones will always feel more "you" than busy stock images. If your website uses warm neutrals, carry those into your blog imagery too.
Step 5: Style your featured articles
Featured article blocks are the highlight spots on your blog home page. Each one is its own element, so you can click it and style it individually:
Change its background image, just as you did in the previous step.
Adjust the Column Layout and Content Alignment to control how the text sits within the block.
Rename the element (for example, Feature article one) if it helps you keep track while editing.
Step 6: Set up your blog posts section
The Blog Posts element is the section that automatically displays your published articles. Click it to open its settings, then work through the options:
Setting | What it does |
Title | An optional heading shown above your list of posts — for example, "Latest Articles". |
Blog Type | Standard shows each post as a card with its image, title, and a short preview. Compact shows a tidier list-style layout with smaller images. |
No of columns | How many posts sit side by side in each row. Three columns is a lovely balanced default. |
Choose category | Filter this section to show posts from selected categories only. Leave it blank to show everything. |
Show | Tick or untick what appears on each post card — for example, whether the post image is shown. |
⚠️ The articles you see inside this element in the editor are demo content only. They are automatically replaced with your real published posts in the preview and on your live blog — so there is no need to edit or delete them.
Step 7: Preview and check on mobile
Open the preview link at the top of the editor to see your blog as visitors will.
Switch to the mobile view in the editor and scroll the full page — most of your readers will find you on their phone.
Read everything aloud once. It is the quickest way to catch leftover placeholder text before your blog goes public.
💡 If your blog is still showing a preview web address, use the Connect Domain link at the top of the editor to put it on your own domain — the Connect your domain guide walks you through it.
Your blog now looks and sounds like you — a warm, on-brand home for everything you are about to share.
Next in the playbook: Write your first blog post.
