How to Share Documents Through the Client Portal

How to enable document sharing in the Client Portal and share files with individual clients — including how clients view shared files and upload their own documents back to you.

The Client Portal lets you share documents securely with individual clients — and lets them upload files back to you. This guide walks you through enabling document sharing and adding files to a contact's portal.

Step 1: Access Client Portal Settings

  • Go to Websites and Funnels.

  • Hover over Client Portal.

  • Click on Settings.

Step 2: Enable Document Sharing

  • Navigate to App Permissions.

  • Ensure that Documents is switched on under Shared Files.

Step 3: Invite Your Contact to the Portal

  • If not already done, invite your contact to the portal.

  • Go to Contacts and click on the contact's name.

Step 4: Add Document for Sharing

  • On the right-hand side, click on Documents.

  • Click on Add.

Step 5: Upload Your Document

  • Upload the document you wish to share.

  • Choose whether to share it on the Client Portal or keep it as an internal document.

Step 6: Confirm Document Upload

  • After uploading, click Upload to confirm.

  • Refresh the page to see the document listed on the right-hand side.

Step 7: View Document Filters

  • You can filter documents by All, Internal, Sent, and Received.

Step 8: Client View of Shared Documents

  • Once the client logs into their Client Portal, they will see Shared Files on the right-hand side.

  • Refresh the page to see the uploaded document appear.

Step 9: Client Uploads Documents

  • Clients can click on Add Files to upload their own documents.
